DC adhesive tapes and die cuts
Adhesive tapes consist of carrier /film- made from plastic or foil-made from metal/ and carrier can be coated with adhesive on one side – S/C - single coated tapes /i.g. packaging tapes, masking tapes, protective tapes/ or on both sides – D/S - double coated tapes. According to carrier we can have even very special teflon tapes , kapton tapes and copper tapes mostly for electronics , automotive, transportation and aircraft industry.
D/S tapes – double coated tapes /i.g. carpet tapes, mounting tapes, D/S foam tapes, acrylic tapes etc/ . Large tape family with many different carriers and contact adhesives. Carriers can be made from plenty of sometimes ordinery and sometimes very special materials as i.g. paper, textile rayon, glass fibres, non woven textile, PP,PE, PES,PAD, UHMW, PVC films, Al, Cu foils.
Adhesives are ususally ruber based, acrylic, silikon and in many cases so called modified adhesives.
The thickness of S/C tapes varies from 50 µ up to few mm in case of insulation foams, D/S tapes are ususally from 50µ up to few mm thick. D/S tapes without carrier are transfer tapes, they do not have carrier, they are created by thin layer of adhesive on siliconized liner.Liner is important for D/S tapes because it enables to wind tapes on roll and die-cutting/converting.
Liner is usually siliconized paper, but in many cases also special film. Converting is process when we die-cut or kiss-cut D/S tapes using liners.
